2012 COSIA Charity Beneficiary: Things of My Very Own, Inc. (TOMVO)

Cultivating Our Sisterhood International Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) women’s nonprofit organization committed to expanding women’s social support networks, providing personal and professional development opportunities, and coordinating volunteer and fundraising activities that benefit women and youth from underserved communities. Each year, COSIA identifies another 501(c)(3) organization whose mission and goals align with ours and would benefit from access to financial and volunteer service support.

Our 2012 charity beneficiary was Things of My Very Own, Inc. (TOMVO). TOMVO provides impoverished children that are victims of abuse and/or neglect, and those in "at-risk" situations with basic necessities to ensure a successful retreat to safety.

The organization provides innovative, ongoing programs to assist children in developing self-confidence, healthy levels of self-esteem, and a reduction in the chances of future victimization. TOMVO also encourages children to achieve academic and future success by providing ability-enhancing activities, academic programs, and exposure to the arts which will enrich their lives and promote future success and stability.
