2008 CHARITY BENEFICIARY

2008 COSIA Charity Beneficiary: The Lower Eastside Girls Club

Cultivating Our Sisterhood International Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) women’s nonprofit organization committed to expanding women’s social support networks, providing personal and professional development opportunities, and coordinating volunteer and fundraising activities that benefit women and youth from underserved communities. Each year, COSIA identifies another 501(c)(3) organization whose mission and goals align with ours and would benefit from access to financial and volunteer service support.

Our 2008 charity beneficiary was The Lower Eastside Girls Club.

The Lower Eastside Girls Club was founded in 1996 to address the historic lack of services available to girls and young women on the Lower East Side. Through an age appropriate menu of activities and workshops in the arts, science and technology, health and wellness, literacy, world of work and civic engagement, The Lower Eastside Girls Club helps girls discover what their individual skills and passions are, and then works with them to develop these interests to their full potential.
